Hey!
First thing I have to say is....Can you guys please send me pictures?!?! I haven´t gotten any recent pictures from you guys and I want to see you! Just throwing that out there cuz I always forget to ask.
Well, this week was good! And it´s so nice having an american companion. It was good to have brasilian comps, but it´s nice to be able to talk english once in awhile. Our area is way interior. The ground is pretty much all sand which makes it SO nice to walk in, especially when it rains ;) And it´s been raining quite a bit. Aracati is so much different from my last area. Here, EVERYBODY lets you in their house, which makes working so much easier! Um, my apt is good, I don´t have a pic with me now, but I will send one soon. We live above a church. Have an open room where we study, have another room where we keep all our clothes and what not, 2 bathrooms! a bedroom and a kitchen. And we have a washing machine, I think all the mission homes have a washing machine. We teach english and piano lessons and it is SO much fun!!!!!! We teach piano twice a week and english once a week. Church was good, I´m playing in sacrament meeting here as well. We have one ward and one branch that we´re over.
That´s awesome about chad! Conrats chad on the award!!! How´s basketball going?? Is it over yet?
Well, not much to say this week. I´m still getting to know the area and the people here, so next week I´ll be able to tell you a little more about the people and our investigators.
Hope all is well back at home and you all are having a good time. I love you all so much and am so grateful for your examples. Keep doing all that the prophet says and stay strong in the gospel! I wish you could all feel the way I do here on the mission. Some of you have already experienced it, but you younger boys, mom, jen and jande...it is the most amazing thing! I don´t think anything can compare to the experiences here on the mission and the change and growth that occurs. Chandler, Garrett, and Joseph...this might sound like something you´ve heard before in primary, young men´s but it is so true and so important. Start now to prepare for a mission! The prophet is really stressing missionary work. The Lord needs you more than ever now, and he needs worthy, young men to find His children and to teach of the gospel. DO all that you can to prepare, read the scriptures, say your prayers, listen to mom and dad and follow the counsels of the prophet. He will never lead you astray!
I love and miss you all so much! Have a good week!

Hey!

Sorry I didn´t write you yesterday. It was transfers and I got transferred to the interior and it´s like a 3 1/2 hour bus ride. I´m now companions with Sister Bowden. SHe´s from Texas and she´s my FIRST american!!!!! We were in the CTM together, she was also a solo sister, but I had left before her. My new area though is called Aracati. From what I´ve seen so far, I think it´s going to be way cool. It´s in the rainy season though so the roads are a mess! It´s the roads made out of cobblestone.

I´m doing good though, nothing else really new. THis transfer will only be five weeks and we have a zone conference. Oh something else about this area. We only go to district meeting once during a transfer because it´s so far away, which means we don´t get our mail. The only way we get it is if we have baptisms. THen the assistants, who do the baptismal interviews for us, they bring our mail for us. Oh, and let brett know that I got his package, and thank glenda and the family also! :)
Well, don´t have much time and there´s not much more to say. There will be more next week, sorry it´s not much. KNow that I love you all and I´m praying for you!
Love,
Sister Salisbury

Hey!

You guys have nothing to worry about! It´s been raining a lot here, but there´s no flooding. I think it just like to pour on p-days....During this past week it was fine and then we wake up this morning to rain! It´s our last pday of the transfer and we always have one with the zone. Are plans were to go to the temple grounds and take pictures but that plan didn´t quite work. So we all met at the stake center, bought pizza, played ping pong and just hung out and talked. There were others that were watching movies....but they weren´t "livre".....or in other words g-rated. So the rest of us just hung out and talked. Hey and guess what?!?!?!

I hit 10 months today!!!!! Me,E. Bills, E. Perez, and E. Johnson all took pictures together. They´re some of the elders that were in my group when i came into the field...just a side note :)

I´m all better, i was sick there for a day but it all passed. Everyone here is getting sick. All of us four sisters in the house got it. I think it´s all going around the mission. THere´s so many elders that have been sick. It must just be because of the climate change.

As far as you guys coming to get me it would be nice to be able to pass through one of my areas on a sunday. So maybe you guys can plan a few days after the 15-16 of august.I could stay with a companionship for a couple days and continue working with them and then around the 19th you guys could plan on being down here and spend a few days. You had mentioned maybe going to são paulo or rio. That would be cool, but if you think it´d be spending too much money then it´s ok. We´ll probably be flying to são paulo from here anyways,so maybe we could spend a day there or something. I don´t know, just throwing some things out. I´m fine with just going to places here in my mission though so don´t think we need to go anywhere else unless you would like to.

Well, hope all is going good there back at home. I´ve sent a million emails to chandler but he must be too busy to answer me. Hope garrett and joey are doing good. I can´t believe garrett will be getting his license and joey will be going into junior high when i get home! And chandler will be a senior! Everything is going to be completely different, but I guess that´s a good thing cuz I´ve changed also since I´vebeen out here. I don´t even know how to explain the way I feel about the gospel now. The mission is a complete life changing experience. There was so many things that I took for granted before the mission. One of those things being my family. You never know how much you love someone until they´re gone.....not that you guys are gone forever, but being away from you guys has been hard. I didn´t think it would be as hard as it´s been. I focus on the work of course, but you know you have those times. I want you guys to know how much I love and appreciate all that you have done for me.I miss and love you all so much!!!!!!!!!!
Love,
Sister Salisbury

"The rains came down and the floods came up"

How´s it going?! Well, it rained all night last night, and it´s still raining! We´re here at the grocery store using the internet and we had to take a taxi. Everything is flooded. We pull into the parking lot underneath the store and people are walking through a lake. It´s ridiculous! Other than that everything is good. Although I was actually sick on saturday, everyone is getting sick. Sis. Gonzaga and Pujol were sick the day before and stayed home. THen me and Sis. Pujol stayed home on saturday. I was sick to the stomach and my whole body was weak. There´s a lot of people getting sick. I think it´s because of the climate change. It was super hot and all of a sudden the weather changed. But I went to church yesterday feeling mais ou menos and gave a talk in sacrament meeting with my companion. It went really good, it was on missionary work and my comp talked about serving others. Yesterday afternoon our baptism almost fell through. His name is Igor and he has 15 years. He felt that he wasn´t prepared and felt like he needed to know more.We talked to him and explained some things and told him that we weren´t there to convince him and he had to make his own decision. He was baptized and it was so neat! He was so happy and thanked us so much!
Well, my time is running out. Hope all is well, sounds like you all are keeping busy with work, school and sports. That´s awesome chandler got his patriarchal blessing, i was wondering when he was going to get it. And Garrett started Drivers ED??? He´ll be getting his license when i get home! Crazy! Alright well I have to go, have a good week!!!
I love you guys!!!

ps. I got both the memory cards, thank you!

Hey!

Well, first off I guess I´ll forgive you guys for not getting an email to me sooner. I was on quite early. We ended up coming earlier to use the internet because we wanted to get everything done in the morning. I enjoyed reading all your emails though. Sounds like New Years was fun! We had a little party here too. Friday we had a new addition to our apartment, sister Pujol. One of the sisters went home so her comp came and is now working with Sister Gonzaga. So it´s just me and sister Corrêa working together now, for the time being. Next week we´ll be back to a trio because Sister Pujol is going home as well. Which makes things more interesting, but I´ll tell you later on. So New Years...we had to be back to our house by 6pm because the streets were full of people drinking in bars and not safe for missionaries to be out. So we got back to the house and had a special dinner, we had drawn names and got little gifts for our "secret friend" I made a batch of brownies that you had sent me and had ice cream, then at midnight we watched the fireworks from our front window. There was a big show at the beach and we were able to watch it from our apartment.

Oh GOOD NEWS!!! I got all my packages from you guys!!!! I loved them! Thank you so much! I think I have candy to last me the rest of my mission :) So much for new year resolutions! ;)

I sent some pictures in another email, hope they got through. They´re of me and my comp, sister gonzaga and sister pujol, and a few from the baptism of Vivi. She is such a doll...literally! When I first saw her I thought she was 3 or 4 and then my comp told me that we´re going to start teaching her and when she turns 8 she´ll be baptized. i couldn´t believe it!
Well, I better get going my time is up. Hope you guys have a good week, and have fun in school, work, sports and all that good stuff! I love you guys!!!!
